One Cool Kid

I had a little bit of time and something new I wanted to try... so the biggest one got a new outfit.  I used a couple of patterns from One Thimble, issue 14 and 10.  This kid is the coolest! He loves mommy-made clothes, and wears them with pride.

The #113 Romper was designed by Thread Faction Studio for the latest issue (14) of One Thimble.  It's designed to be an easy fitting, capri length, overall style romper with a drop crotch.  It's quite possibly one of the fastest things I've ever made.  The rolled leg cuffs, and faux button closures make it really, really easy.   Nope! No buttonholes!

The romper is definitely not his usual style, but he really seems to like it.  It's really comfy and easy.  I think it'll get a ton of use this summer, hanging around the lake and tromping through the woods.  Kind of reminds me of HuckFinn.

We just need to take a quick moment to appreciate this fabric.  Those are vintage Converse high tops.  Holy crap, its amazing!  The pattern is designed for stable knits, of which I had none... so I went to Etsy and searched, and happened upon this little shop called KittycatVintage16.  She had this 1yd remnant of mystery fiber double knit, and it was only $3.00.  Perfect!!

I had a little bit of fabric left over after making the romper and I was able to squeeze out enough for this little beanie.  This is the Enid, one of the patterns in Issue 10.  It was amazingly fast and easy to sew as well and I really love the extra detail of the button tab.  Even better, it only took a little bit of fabric, and I made the entire thing in less than an hour.  It must be really comfy too, because he's worn it everyday since I made it.  Looks like there will be many more Enids in my future.

I'm working on a few things right now that I hope I'll be able to share soon!  For now, head over to One Thimble to grab your copy of Issue 14 and Issue 10 . You can also get the single patterns.

Leave me a comment and tell me what you think! And check back soon for more cool stuff.

Now here are more pictures of this cool kid!

So, you might notice that there aren't any pictures of the back...  Well, sometimes, when you have all four of your kids with you, and three are running a muck near the somewhat busy street, while you are attempting to photograph an outfit... small details, like the entire back of the outfit, are forgotten.

  1. This is great!!! He looks so comfortable and I can attest to how much he loves that beanie! The fabric was a marvelous find too. Does the romper have any pockets?

  2. Just discovered your blog, and I’m in LOVE with it! Amazing layout an content. Love your style, you rock!! Thanks a million and please carry on the rewarding work.
