The Magical Golden Unicorn Dress...

What's this you say?  Why, it's another post!  This week I'm the last stop on another fun blog tour Make It Maddox hosted by Blaverry.  The tour is all about the re-tested and updated Maddox; a smart, stylish, and classic dress, that you absolutely need for your girl.

Amelie's magical golden unicorn Maddox was was miraculously (or magically, if you prefer to keep with the title) made from a 1 yard remnant that I got at Joann's a few weeks ago.  Serious tetris situation, lemme just tell ya.  I spotted the golden unicorns on the aqua and it was all over.  Ama saw it and immediately knew it was meant for her.  Buttercup, however, was none to pleased about being left out.  But, as luck would have it, I found some golden arrow on aqua fabric at the local quilt shop, Thimble Pleasures.  There will, in the near future, be a Buttercup accompaniment to the golden unicorn dress.  But, back to Maddox...

The original sleeveless pattern has a clean, classic, chic look.  It features two flapped chest pockets, two over-sized flapped side pockets, a functional placket, and a bias bound neck and armholes and a faced shirt tail hem.  And with sizes 2T - 16, you can make her new favorite dress for quite a while.

The pattern has been updated to include several new sleeved options, making it even more versatile and school friendly for those dress code situations.  The sleeves are finished with a cuff, making them super polished and professional looking.

Sleeve options include:

  • Sleeveless
  • Short
  • Half
  • Long

We stuck with sleeveless and this fall, I think/hope, she will still be able to wear it with a sweater or over a long sleeved shirt.  If not, Buttercup will be thrilled when summer rolls around again!  I love the details on this so much.

This is definitely an intermediate level project.  But, fear not! You too can make a Maddox of your own.  Christie's clear, concise, easy to follow instructions will make this easy.  And if you get stuck, she's always available to help.  So, go ahead, toss your fears aside, and grab a copy of the Maddox right away.  Whip it up and share your creation in the Blaverry Facebook Group.

Also, please be sure to check out all the other wonderful creations on the Make It Maddox tour.

Now, for the rest of the pictures.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think...
