Sylva by Sofilantjes

The newest Sofilantjes pattern is here! It's the Sylva, and it is perfect!  Anne's patterns are always wonderful and some of my favorite patterns to sew.  The unique details and features she includes always make them special.  I love testing for Anne so much!

The Sylva features two bodice options, a v-neck and a hooded option with a placket, and two lengths, top and tunic, and three sleeve lengths, short, 3/4, and a pieced long sleeve, and comes in sizes 12mo to 14 years.

I tried out both bodice options, and alas... only got pictures of the hooded ones.  Side note on the v-neck: As long as you don't add a tag, you CAN'T put it on backwards.  How cool is that!  Let me tell you, it's real cool, especially when your kids dress themselves.

Both bodice options are really great for using up scraps or in this case upcycling dad's old shirts....

This is one of the comfiest coziest little tunics that this girl has. She loves it and wears it all the time!  And I think the pocket on the hood is pretty cool, not by any means useful, but really cool.

The pieced long sleeve is really cool feature, and another great way to use up scraps.  It's one of those unique details that Anne always includes in her patterns.

For the short sleeved version, I used a lightweight mystery knit (probably poly/cotton/spandex) from the HobbLobb.  I rarely shop for fabric there, but this was in the clearance section... and Ama saw it, and felt it, and loved it.  And I'll admit it is really soft and I really like the subtle colorblocking with these two fabrics.  It's a much daintier and lighter color than I usually work with.

The placket has optional snaps, which I added on for Ama's.  I used a tutorial from One Thimble Issue 14 to make fabric covered snaps.  Pretty cool.  This opens up a whole new world of snap colors!

This is a nice and easy sew.  The pattern has no trim pages, which is the best invention EVER, and the instructions are clear and easy to follow.  The v-neck option comes together in a flash and the hooded option takes just a little longer.  It makes a beautifully finished, and professional piece.

The pattern is available in both English and Dutch.  And it's on sale now for €5 (which equals about $5.35 usd).  The sale runs from Friday 00.00 to Sunday 00.00 CET (Thursday 6pm. to Saturday 6pm EST).  Get your copy while it's on sale!  It's a beautiful pattern.
